Where to Buy Fireworks in L.A. County

You might conclude otherwise from the occasional pop and bang you hear on your block this week, but fireworks are illegal in many cities in Los Angeles County, Altadena included.

So how can you buy and enjoy fireworks if you live in a town that does not allow them? Go somewhere else in the county.

At the bottom of this article we have a list of where "safe and sane" fireworks are allowed in the county.

The closest town to South Pasadena where these fireworks are allowed for sale and for use is Alhambra. Other nearby cities where they are legal include San Gabriel, El Monte, Baldwin Park, Azusa and Duarte.

There is also a very tight window time-wise of when the sales are allowed: permitted sales dates started Thursday and will end July 6.

If you are confused about whether the fireworks you are buying are legal or not, there is an official "safe and sane" seal courtesy of the County Fire Department.

And if you don't think the legal fireworks are all that fun, you can always just watch the professionals do it: to find a fireworks display (or two or more) going on throughout the county over the next week.
