Be A Host Family To A Student From Germany!

International Education and Exchange (IEE) is a South Pasadena-based, non-profit organization that has been bringing German students to live with local host families since 1987.  We are looking for families who can open up their homes and hearts to an eager-to-learn, English-speaking student who has come to the United States to learn about American culture and improve their English.  Program dates are JUNE 29 – JULY 27.

WHAT THEY DO:  The 15-17 year olds are kept busy with English classes and excursions during the week, so even working families can fit the experience into their schedules.

WHO WE NEED:
All types of families can host – parents with young kids/older kids, single parent/joint custody families, active retired couples in the South Pasadena/Pasadena/Alhambra/San Marino/San Gabriel areas.

WHAT FAMILIES HAVE TO DO:  provide a bed to sleep in (shared rooms OK) as well as morning and evening meals with your family, make the student a part of your daily life.

Open up your and your children’s world and expand your horizons with this incredibly rich and rewarding experience! Local program coordinators will be at the South Pasadena Farmers Market Thursday, May 23rd, to answer all of your questions. Stop by our table, by the Walking Man sculpture, or

In “One Friendship at a Time,” a publication of the President’s Council for International Youth Exchange, Ronald Regan stated, “I am convinced that one of the best ways to develop more accurate perspectives on other nations and
ourselves is for more Americans to join, for a time, a family and a community
in another land. In the same way, we cannot hope that other nations will appreciate our country unless more of their future leaders have had the same chance to feel the warmth of the American family, the vitality of the American community…”
