Where Do You Volunteer in Town?

In light of the holiday season, Patch is asking you—the volunteers—to tell us some of your favorite places to lend your efforts.

Whether it be volunteering at Door of Hope in Pasadena or here in town, many in South Pas donate their time to the community all year long.

In light of the holiday season, Patch is asking you—the volunteers—to tell us some of your favorite places to lend your efforts.

Tell us about your local charity or an upcoming holiday fundraising event in the comments below. And upload your favorite volunteering photos and videos!

Attached are photos from Holy Family's annual turkey-giving event, which will take place again Monday morning.

Check back with Patch Friday for our own list of local charities and volunteer spots.

In my personal opinion it is irrelevant where you volunteer as long as you volunteer. But if you do so it should not only be during the holiday season, but all year long. If you intend to be benevolent there should be no time limitation, people and organizations need help throughout the year not just during the holiday season. The greatest gift you can give is your personal time!

@Henk: Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I posted this with intent to start a dialogue about different volunteering efforts in town. I was hoping residents would share photos, stories, events, etc.

I volunteer with a nonprofit group called Recycled Resources for the Homeless. We are a small group of dedicated individuals working to improve the lives of the homeless in Highland Park, Eagle Rock, and South Pasadena. All of our information can be found here: www.recycledresources.org Come out and join us!

I just got back from Door of Hope in Pasadena. It's a transitional housing program for homeless families. We can all help make their holidays special by donating gifts and food. Find out more here: http://www.doorofhope.us/holiday.php. And check back with Patch for a full article.
