Patch Blog: Wonderland Custom Cakes Named 'Cupcake Wars' Champ
Pasadena's Wonderland Custom Cakes took home the Cupcake Wars gold in the season finale episode: "Saluting the USO."
Wonderland Custom Cakes, the two-time Food Network Cupcake Wars’ champions are making their award winning 4th of July cupcakes available to Southern California sweet tooths.
After a win last fall on the Comic Con-themed Cupcake Wars episode, Wonderland Custom Cakes returned to the kitchen to battle three previous Cupcake Wars winners in the “Champions” episode.
In a decision announced on July 1, Wonderland Custom Cakes was crowned as the winner of the season finale, “Saluting the USO.”

With 4th of July around the corner, Wonderland Custom Cakes will be offering the unique, patriotic themed cupcakes which brought home the Cupcakes Wars gold at their Old Town Pasadena bakery. Flavors include:
- Home- Fresh ginger, sugar-beet spice cake with homemade cranberry compote filling and spiced orange zest frosting adorned with a “made in the USA” dog tag.
- Heart- Peanut butter chocolate chip cake with peanut butter frosting, homemade caramel drizzle and Cracker Jacks adorned with a red, white and blue fondant heart
- Hope- Chocolate bourbon cake with a bourbon-chocolate ganache center and vanilla-bourbon cream cheese
- Honor- Coconut cake with coconut crème filling, cream cheese frosting and rolled in toasted coconut adorned with a fondant shield of honor celebrating 70 years of the USO.
“Winning Cupcake Wars has opened up so many incredible doors for Wonderland Custom Cakes, including opening a bakery to the public,” says Wonderland Custom Cakes Co-Owner Anthony Valerio. “We are thrilled to be able to offer special edition 4th of July cupcakes as well as our Cupcake Wars victory with the community.”
