Too bad they couldn't do anything for that tough little guy stuck in the engine compartment last…Read More week, no? Still think they should have gone the extra mile for the little guy

No dig on these guys... But god forbid an exciting restaurant would open in South Pasadena.

Thanks, folks. I REALLY appreciate it. Because I take this back to the people much, much, much…Read More higher up the chain than myself and they collect all the people's comments. For the record, Ron, if you'd like HQ to hear you directly - and this goes for everyone who's irked or appeased - click the feedback button on the right hand side of the page and you can let loose!

Donna, it looks confusing. There's a lot of "stuff" on the page like, ads, categories…Read More (which I'm sure can be condensed), and people's blog posts which show up on the front page. If I want to read blogs I'll go to the section.

Andy Au - STOP leaving multiple long winded comments! Sorry. I'm not sure how I did that.

This looks like a fun day. A challenge would be to bike it from the Gamble House to the Pasadena…Read More Museum of History. Then south on Orange Grove Blvd. through South Pasadena, west on Mission St. to the Arroyo Seco Bike Path and see if you can get out @ Ave. 43 and do the Loomis home and then back across the freeway to Heritage Square.
Hop on the Gold Line @ Heritage Square and take it north to Memorial Park and your almost back where you started at the higher elevation near the San Gabriel Mountains.
Just like the water of the Arroyo Seco (or Wet {o}) would flow downhill, so will you and your bike.
Have fun. Get some Free culture.
Be Well.
Thank you,
Andy Au

I understand the constraints animal shelters have, but you might think that this little one, who as…Read More tough enough to ride out a trip in an engine compartment, might have gotten a bit of special attention .. I blame no one, and feel bad for all involved .. it's just a damned shame

Unfortunately 9 out of 10 cats that enter a shelter do not make it out alive. This is a statistic…Read More that the shelters typically don't volunteer to people but it is true nonetheless. It doesn't matter what breed the cat is, how adorable or sweet it may seem to people...and no I am not making this up. As far as euthanizing kittens under a certain weight or age, typically shelters euthanize all kittens that are too young to eat on their own, ie "bottle babies". This is because shelters do not have the staff to care for these kittens, who are really just babies and need to be bottle fed every 2 hours or so. Many shelters work with rescue groups who can and do take SOME of these kittens but just a small fraction of the numbers the shelters take in every day. Right now is Spring so it is "Kitten and Puppy Season", which means the shelters will be inundated with these little ones, far too many for the shelters to be able to handle without euthanizing an incredibly large amount. If you EVER find animals like this they will have a FAR better chance of living and finding a forever home if you reach out to local Rescue organizations, or ask your friends and neighbors who you trust to help you rehome them, or network them online on Facebook for example. There are many Wonderful Rescue organizations nationwide which you can find online, or even by reaching out to your local PetSmart/Petco and those who run adoptions there. So Sad for this poor kitten...

I was told that shelters euthanized all kittens under a certain age, is that true?

Truly unfortunate! The original Patch was great, then when Huffington took over they started going…Read More downhill with all the changes. Now more changes. Sometimes it is best to leave things alone. Having been a contributor with Patch since it inception, people associate me with the site, they have approached me more frequently to ask: " what happened to Patch?. It used to be a great news site" I have no answer for them. When Patch was initiated they should have heeded the old adage :"if it ain't broke don't fix it". People log in to see what is happening in their communities and items that affect them, not some area that has no bearing on them.

Already came! The New South Pasadena Utility Bill. You will be charged an extra 2.8% finance charge…Read More if you do not log on correctly, or are not a resident of South Pasadena. I was over charged $3.72 though they say I will get a credit for that on the next bill.
Wow, the utility bill just keeps going up and up. Was $40, now $140 plus a finance charge for the state of Arizona.
Clogging the blogs with clogs..
Also ‘Patch’ you need to make clear which local “Patch” I am posting on. I make a post, and then receive 365 emails. You nearly look alike MSN groups back when I would leave a comment thereabout then receive 100 emails.
Watch out for the e`billy blogging liars though.

As`far as I know LAPD will not come out for certain crimes that can be reported over the phone or…Read More at a police station. But others they will send a unit out (albeit very slow response) crimes such as home burglary, vandalism and the like where they need to assess the crime scene. Makes sense since each report ties up a patrol unit which could be better utilized in crime prevention. Over the years there are many who have abused the calling of police for the slightest things, usually wasting a cops time. By forcing these callers to go to a station saves time for legitimate emergencies by field officers.

I'm watching season 2 of "The Shield'' right now, as I never saw the series back when it was…Read More televised. Some 10 years ago. Anyway, in an episode I just saw, two LAPD patrol officers responded to the house where a family reported a bicycle was stolen. LOL. I was told @JT that, in fact, they do not make house calls. Er, crime calls? Point is, I had to go to them.
