Dr. Yamanaka was my dentist when I was a kid, and I'm still cavity-free over 20 years later! His sonRead More Todd & I were classmates (we even made a student film together) and if I recall correctly, we were in Y Indian Guides together, too. Yamanaka was a great and gentle dentist. As you can glimpse from this coverage his passing is going to leave a huge hole in the fabric of the community because he was a great man, too, leaving a positive influence and raising some great kids. My sympathies go to his loved ones, his staff, and his patients.

Got the pleasure of meeting Huell at a UC Davis fund raiser. He was very nice and so funny. We haveRead More a picture we took with him and also he signed a t-shirt we have framed. Almost all our trips are because of him. He helped us learn and love California. RIP Huell.

Wow, Huell is so cool. So sad to hear the tragic news, he'll be greatly missed. There will never beRead More anybody as cool as Huell. I hope KCET will keep playing reruns.

One of our family treasures. My daughter, Molly, was unimpressed, however, and did a greatRead More impersonation of his "Hah, Ahm Hoowell Howser, etc." which in turn became a special memory for me. We promise ourselves to visit at least one of his special places.

A lovely tribute to a wonderful man. It brings back memories of a happier, less hectic time in myRead More life. Thank you Kristen!
Henk Friezer August 30, 2012 at 05:52 pm
Kristen- Delighted you decided to do the story as a parting momento. As`I mentioned to you whenRead More suggesting this to you that I too knew Vince. He was cordial but firm,he was always seen walking the local streets in his business suit (no matter how hot it was) with briefcase and papers under his arm. He was a staunch supporter of the local paper (SP Review) selling ads for them (I worked for the other paper, the SP Journal at the time). I don't think there was anyone in So Pas who did not know of him or had some kind of interaction with him over the years. He was quite a figure! . He was to South Pas what the greeter was to Laguna Beach. he received the title as the city's unofficial ombudsman, his absence is still missed!

Nice, piece, Kristen. Funny. When I was commenting about your leaving Patch the other day, IRead More wanted to say, "We'll always have LePore Lane to remember you by." But I forgot. Thanks for reminding me!

So very sad. Seeing the tribute his Grandchildren did for him was heartbreaking. I cried most ofRead More that day. Please be careful everyone. Both pedestrians and drivers alike need to make sure this never happens again.

Very sad. That's definitely always been a bad intersection.

Oh, what happy memories I have of Bill Fosselman and his ice cream shop on Mission Street in SouthRead More Pasadena. Remember the juke box "selectors" on the tables and counters? Fosselman's was the go to place after a football game, dance, movie and even after "Open House" at school. It always amazed me when he would greet us by name as we entered his ice cream shop. I will never forget watching him make milkshakes in the silver containers behind the counter as he chatted with the customers. My deepest condolences to the entire Fosselman Family on Bill's passing. He will forever remain in our hearts and memories of a much simpler time...way back when. He was a South Pasadena icon that will live on in all of us whose lives he touched, not just as a beloved friend, but as a part of our extended family.
Candy B Solomon April 27, 2012 at 01:12 pm
...FYI... The above comment was made by Candy "Bond" Solomon, daughter of Allan D. Bond.

So as I say, I wake up every morning, thankful that I have exceptional health insurance coverage IRead More found through "Penny Medical" for my family because it gives me peace of mind knowing that my family can count on me to deliver their health care needs.
Sam Burgess December 31, 2011 at 01:09 pm
Kristen, "penny medical" is, if not a scam, a medical coverage offer that should beRead More looked at with great care. I am the one who flagged it as inappropriate because I do not believe anyone should be pushing their medical products on a site dedicated to the memory of anothers loved one. I may be alone in this belief but so be it.
Steve & Jamie Inzunza December 25, 2011 at 12:26 pm
Dear Bill, Our deepest sympathies for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. PleaseRead More accept our condolences. Steve and Jamie Inzunza

Stephanie will not only be a great loss to Bill and Micheal but also leave a void in the communityRead More she loved and contributed so much to. Bill is an outstanding, objective journalist because of the support he received from his wife. And though we can claim to feel his loss none off will be more aware of this than the Glazier family, Bill we are all there for you and even though we will never be able to fill the void left by your wife, we are there to lend you any support you may need in this time of sorrow. She will truly be missed. My heartfelt condolences to you and Micheal. Your friend, Henk
Kris Calvin December 29, 2011 at 09:43 pm

Sudden pre-mature death is not normal. What killed this young girl? This is so terribly sad.

Sincere heartfelt condolences to Officer Sandoval's family and friends, from all of us at Twohey'sRead More Restaurant in Alhambra
Tom Leonard June 21, 2011 at 02:11 pm
I wish I had gone over to the SPP Station to personally thank Officer Sandoval for coming to theRead More rescue and being first officer on scene of my wife's car accident near train station earlier this year. Unfortunately after the fact will have to do--- Thank You Officer Sandoval - you and family are in our thoughts and prayers . You will never be forgotten.

OMG. I know Jodi and Rick. I met Jodi when she was doing marketing for Paseo and they had a swingRead More dance every Friday night in the summer. Very sad news.
Chris Colburn March 20, 2011 at 01:33 pm
I will always remember Jodi fondly. She hired me at Bristol Farms when I was a kid in HS. ThroughoutRead More my seven years there, she always had time to talk and share a laugh. She was an awesome human being and a blessing to all who knew her. I know there was an immediate opening in God's marketing department the moment she arrived in heaven.

Photo #2, which mentions "star of the game" Stacy Lee is actually a photo of Kelsey Lee,Read More who was also critical to the senior team. Tyler Brown is behind her.
Denise March 18, 2011 at 01:39 am
I think photo #9, identified as Stacy as well, is also Kelsey.
