The South Pasadena Police Department employs 35 sworn officers, 15 non-sworn personnel and 30 reserve police…More officers. Led by Police Chief Joseph Payne, the police department handles patrol operations, traffic enforcement, criminal investigations and administrative support services.</p> <p>The department focuses on crime prevention through community outreach programs, including neighborhood watch, business watch, home and business security inspections and robbery presentations.</p> <p>It also features a cadet program that allows cadets to take on part of the duties of full-time officers, allowing officers to spend more time in the field. Cadets can perform data entry, enforce parking violations and assist the public at the front counter.</p> <p>This police department has one of the fastest emergency response times in California, getting from one end of the city to the other in under three minutes. </p>
