626 Foodettes is a collaboration between Clarissa Wei and Kristie Hang. Between them, Clarissa and Kristie have been published on CNN, CNNGo, MYX TV, Direct TV, LA Weekly, Village Voice, CBS Los Angeles, BBC, Serious Eats, the NY Times, just to name a few. They’re media professionals who grew up on the cuisine and culture of the 626. Their goal is inform and spread knowledge of the culture to others and bring the 626 it to the mainstream through the universal language of food.

Together, Kristie and Clarissa represent the diversity that is the 626. Kristie, whose family roots come from Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, and China is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. She brings her unique voice and experiences as one of the Foodettes.

Foodette Clarissa, whose family is from Taiwan is fluent in Mandarin and knows Taiwanese.

These girls mean business. Held together by their love for true, authentic food and the copious amounts of time every year they spend living abroad in Asia, the two journalists turned foodettes have left behind their hard news careers, to bring attention to the relatively untapped culinary market of San Gabriel.

The San Gabriel Valley is a hotbed of culinary treasures that gets little to no recognition. The goal of 626 Foodettes is to bring the community a little bit closer through food with original reporting, photography, and other multimedia components.

Stay tuned for updates on new restaurant openings, multimedia elements and tons of delicious food photographs. This is just the beginning.
