Laurie Allee, Neighbor

Laurie Allee headed west from her hometown of Austin, Texas 23 years ago with a big pile of film school student loans and even bigger dreams of becoming the next Steven Spielberg. She became a freelance writer instead.

Laurie's background includes news reporting, a series of children's books on tape, advertising copywriting, film promotion, instructional materials, medical writing, financial newsletters and online content for corporate websites, e-tailers and information service providers.  Laurie has written projects for Good Times Home Video, BBDO, Chiat Day, Rand Corporation, Microsoft, The Vivid Group Marketing, Genex Interactive, Siegel Gale and Event411.  And to prove that she is more than just a copywriting hack, Laurie's short fiction has appeared in a few obscure, mostly-defunct literary publications and zines.

Laurie presents an original photo a day with commentary at her blog,  Glimpses of South Pasadena. For her blog's contribution to promoting a positive image of South Pasadena beyond its borders, Mayor Mike Ten honored Laurie with the 2010 South Pasadena Image Award. Her photographs have also appeared at HometownPasadena.com, in the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce business directory,  Arroyo Monthly, Pasadena Weekly, Toyota Farm to Table Tour Blog and on the covers of a few indie musician CDs. Laurie lives in South Pas with her husband and 6 year old daughter.
