Police announced the arrest of the man accused of last week from a South Pasadena pet store.

Police arrested 53-year-old Jesus Medina, from Los Angeles, on suspicion of grand theft. Medina is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

"His statement to officers was that his pastor had recognized him on the news and told him it would be the right thing to take the dog back to the store," Bartl said.

Authorities may additional charge Medina with commercial burglary, if they can prove intent to steal, and possible conspiracy charges, considering medina was suspected of having a lookout during the theft.
