Armed Suspect Breaks into Monterey Home, Sexually Assaults Teen

Around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, police say the 18-year-old female victim was asleep at her residence in the 600 block of Monterey Road when she was awakened by an unknown male suspect.

Update via City News Service: The victim's father interrupted the attack when he arrived home in the 600 block of Monterey Road shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday, according ABC7.

The father told the news outlet that the man had a knife and was sitting on his daughter's bed. The man, identified as "John," locked the front door before the attacker could leave and fought him off with part of bed frame, he told Channel 7.

The intruder eventually fled through of the same bedroom window where he got in, he said.

Original Article: A 18-year-old female was sexually assaulted in her bedroom after a suspect broke into her Monterey Road home Wednesday, announced Friday.

Around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, police say the 18-year-old female victim was asleep at her residence in the 600 block of Monterey Road when she was awakened by an unknown male suspect.

The suspect allegedly sexually assaulted her. He was armed with a 5" blade knife, according to reports.

Upon notification Thursday night, South Pasadena Police Department immediately launched an investigation to identify the suspect—who is described as a white male 40- to 50-years-old, brown eyes, curly dark brown hair, 5’11" to 6’1”, 180 to 200 lbs. with facial hair and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.

No further information on the crime is being released at the moment.

"We are still working hard to get the suspect in custody," said Sgt. Tony Abdalla. "And we don't want to jeopardize that."

Officers from the and forensic experts from the Pasadena Police Department processed the scene and successfully recovered physical evidence. Currently, every available resource is being utilized in this investigation.
