Nationally Known Comic Artist and Historian Arlen Schumer at Library on November 7

A very special Author Night with Arlen Schumer, nationally-known comic book artist and historian, will be presented in the Library Community Room on November 7th at 7 p.m. The free event is presented by the South Pasadena Public Library, the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, and the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles.

Arlen Schumer has been creating award-winning comic book-styled illustrations for the advertising and editorial markets for decades and is one of the foremost historians of comic book art. Comic Book Artist magazine named him "one of the more articulate and enthusiastic advocates of comic book art in America.”  His coffee table art book The Silver Age of Comic Book Art won the Independent Publishers Award for Best Popular Culture Book of 2003. His other books include Visions From the Twilight Zone (Chronicle Books) and The Neal Adams Sketchbook (Vanguard). Schumer has lectured at universities and cultural institutions across the country since 1988. Arlen lives in New York City. He is known for his scintillating presentations at the the world famous ComicCon International Convention.

The Community Room is located at 1115 El Centro Street . Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and no tickets or reservations are necessary.  Special thanks to South Pasadena Mercantile.
