Meet Comic Book Artist Arlen Schumer, Check Out Uncle Irving's Bagels at the Farmers' Market

1. Evening with comic book artist Arlen Schumer

Arlen Schumer, the celebrated, award-winning comic book-styled illustrator and a leading historian of comic book art, is scheduled to make a special appearance at the South Pasadena Library Community Room at 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Nov. 7. This is a rare opportunity to meet and hear one of the foremost talents in the comic book world. The community room is located at 1115 El Centro St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. No tickets or reservations are necessary. 2. Farmers' Market

The weekly South Pasadena Farmers' Market will be held today, Thursday, Nov. 7, at and around the intersection of El Centro Street and Meridian from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come and get your fresh produce and other goodies for the week. 3. Spirit of John Muir

Mark your calendars: At 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, the South Pasadena Public Library Community Room, located at 1115 El Centro St., will come alive with "The Spirit of John Muir," a living history performance about the famous author, naturalist and conservationist who visited South Pas in 1889, long before he came to be celebrated as the father of U.S. national parks. The performance will be by Lee Stetson, who portrays Muir at Yosemite National Park and was featured in the Ken Burns PBS "National Parks: America's Best Ideas" series. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. No tickets or reservations required.
